No. Many of our students have dyslexia or ADHD, but plenty don't have a diagnosis.
Your child is very welcome to come along, but it's optional. Some parents prefer to talk on their own first.
We're government funded, so there are no private school fees. Like most schools, some costs aren't covered by our funding, so we ask for an all-inclusive $200 a term for booklets, stationery and outings. It's optional, though families try to contribute what they can.

Cannot speak more highly of the super professional staff and leadership of this school. Our daughter made the decision to attend Mastery this year, rather than begin at an intermediate, with her usual school friends. Although a tough (and brave) decision initially, after 7 weeks into the new school year, she has gone from strength to strength, wanting to go to school everyday, excited to see her teachers and so keen to share all she is learning! She tells us the smaller class sizes help so much, she doesn’t even need to ask for help as the teachers just ‘get her’ and how she best learns. The positivity at the school is amazing and we are so very well informed. Best decision we could have made- thank you so much!
We are beyond grateful for the transformation we’ve seen in our son since joining Mastery School Arapaki. At his previous school we were constantly told he was “fine,” yet he was unhappy, struggling with learning, and losing confidence. We were paying a lot for extra tutoring after school, and watching him become increasingly angry and disengaged was heartbreaking. Within weeks of starting at Mastery School Arapaki, everything changed. He was happy again, excited to go to school, felt like he truly belonged, and his confidence grew every day. The progress he has made in reading and maths is incredible — more than we saw in his previous four years of schooling. We travel 40 minutes each way and would do it without hesitation. The calm, structured, and nurturing environment has been life‑changing for our son and our whānau. We are so thankful this school exists in Christchurch.

MSNZ Arapaki, the best decision we made for our daughter! She is a much happier and settled wee girl and has already developed some genuine friendships that were missing at her previous school. She has never liked reading on her own (but always enjoyed being read to). Since starting at MSNZ, we now have to prise the books out of her hands at bedtime as she has discovered the joy of reading by herself! It's just amazing! After 1 week of my daughter attending MSNZ, I felt like I was getting my daughter back. Suddenly she was being taught at the right level for her. She was able to come home and be proud of what she was learning and achieving. She’s been here 6 weeks now and is searching for books to read. She tells me about the new things she is learning. I feel that the staff and the school set up allows my daughter to be seen. To be met where she is at, and is supported to grow from there. We couldn't be happier with Mastery NZ Arapaki for our daughter. She was beginning to lose confidence in her ability to learn and was becoming unhappy at school. Now she is happy with lots of friends and is learning at a much faster rate. The wrap around support and the student to teacher ratios are amazing. Undoubtedly the best decision we made for our child. Our daughter’s progress in a few short months has been amazing to watch. She reads confidently, writes and her self confidence has improved dramatically. We will be forever grateful to the team for their dedication and commitment.
Our children are happy and thriving in their education at MSNZ Arapaki. They come home smiling, with no more meltdowns, and are excelling in their learning.
